PROJECT
ON AIDS:
Partnership for
Sexual Health
(PSH) project
was launched in
the year of 2000,
Dec, sanctioned
by DFID through
APSACS, to work
with the sex workers
in Tanuku areas
of West Godavari
District with
the goal of providing
safesex behavior,
behavior change
communication,
STD treatment,
condom promotion
and enabling environment
and providing
knowledge on prevention
activities on
HIV/AIDS.
THE
ORGANISTION EXPERIENCE
IN SEXWORKERS
INTERVENTION THROUGH
APSACS HYDERABAD
Sameekarana
is one of the
NGO since 1990
in W.G.Dist has
been working with
the marginalized
underprivileged
in Andhra Pradesh.
Our major focus
right from inception
till date has
been on Women
and children empowerment.
We have experience
on various interventions
has given us insight
on the community
needs and its
dynamics. Our
hands on experience
also have boosted
our confidence
in taking up more
challenging issues
towards addressing
the various underprivileged
community needs.
Our
mission to accomplish
in our various
ongoing projects
especially in
partnership with
like minded local
Regional and global
resource organizations
has given us an
added value and
edge towards working
with the most
difficult circumstances
resulting to sharpening
our analyzing
capacities, establishing
linkages, convergence
and making the
community empower
management in
all our interventions
to involve and
sustain the programme
on their own.
This process of
working with various
communities has
enabled us in
building a good
sustained rapport
with the community,
which has been
one of the major
sources of inspiration
to continue the
challenging stand.
Our
partnership initiatives
with APSACS and
PSU from the beginning
of 2000 December
shaped up our
partnership with
PSH interventions
through novel
innovations and
creativity. Today
we feel privileged
and proud to be
in partnership
with APSACS&
PSU. Further with
all the support
and encouragement
and being elevated
as one of the
lead resource
organization,
with an opportunity
provided in terms
of sharing our
knowledge, best
experiences, difficulties
faced and being
consistent by
providing various
opportunities
to share and learn
in updating our
strategic plans.
The targeted locations
will be free from
HIV transmission,
with full knowledge
on STD.HIV/AIDS
and the risk perception.
Consistent condom
usage drastic
reduction in STI
re-infections,
quality STD treatment
and enabling environment
for consistent
safe sex practices.
The community
and the immediate
stakeholders will
have total control
over the sustainability
of the interventions.
We are very much
in line with our
planned vision
with all the support
and encouragement
in making these
intervention HIV
free hotspots.
